Åsa Sonjasdotter will hold a lecture on

Potato Perspective and notions on formal and informal circulation of knowledge

Sonjasdotter has just finished a collaboration with Prinzessinnengarten in Berlin as a part of her project Potato Pespective, which investigates on the complex issues of knowledge and power through the cultivated plant of potato. Sonjasdotter searches for images of the institutionalization of knowledge about plant breeding in post-war Europe, as well as how formal and implicit counterhegemonial knowledge structures interrelate and circulate.

In 2007, she formed the Tromsø Academy of contemporary art together with Nicolas Siepen. The Academy is located in northern Norway, beyond the Arctic Circle, as a focal point in the culturally diverse circumpolar area. Its approach is to position itself within what was commonly understood as a politically and culturally lacking landscape of art and education.
