“Visual Construction of Memory – Actions that build Memory”
Recent experiences in Argentina
Lecturer: Federico Geller
In Argentina there is now a wave of trials for members of the latest Dictatorship (1976-1983). After many years of impunity and thanks to a broad and persistent work of many actors, mainly human rights and political organisations, those responsible for the killing and torture of tenths of thousands of people are being prosecuted and taken to jail.
We will review the role of creativity and visual actions in this process, focusing on public actions and events that took place over the last years.
Federico Geller is member of Abriendo Caminos/La Comunitaria TV, a collective from Buenos Aires, that produces graphic, radio and audiovisual activities for triggering communication experiences in the sociopolitical field.
