Racism is a complex system of social and political levels that works in institutional, structural, interpersonal and internalized dimensions.
Inaction is complicity in racism and white supremacy. Being not racist is not enough and effectively stops us from examining racism all around us. Each of us needs to practice an active anti-racism in our daily life.
This means being ready to examine your own privileges and giving up power, and resources and share them with people who are cut off from accessing platforms to speak, accessing finances to study , accessing safety and housing and food. This means de-colonizing your life, your book shelf, your mind.
At Interflugs, we are committed to stand up against racism and the ongoing violence that black and brown folks all over the world face, including in Germany. We believe in intersectional feminist justice and we reaffirm our commitment to fight racism and white supremacy wherever we find it. This means at the UdK and outside the UdK and also within ourselves which is deeply uncomfortable and a tough path to acknowledge shame and guilt and complicity in racist systems. We endeavor to continue this struggle every day actively beyond this moment. All of us need to speak out and speak up against racism. We support all of the protests happening right now in the name of George Floyd and all the victims of systems of violent racism. We stand in solidarity with the Black community against the systemic racism that plagues our society.
We are sharing some resources that might be helpful to transit these powerful and emotional times.
For white folks or ppl who live with the privilege to not experience racism in your day to day life, please remember it is not the place for Black and POC to educate you. Take the initiative, read black and PoC authors, especially Women* of Color, get intimate with your frustrations and fears but also learn when it is the right to time to express them and when you just need to shut-up and listen without inserting your thoughts. .
Lets open up the conversations even if it is uncomfortable, that show us that there is so much to be healed.

All levels welcome
We will have 2 sessions. Each session will last for 3 hours.
1st day (June 6): 16:00 – 19:00 (Saturday)
2nd day (June 7): 16:00 – 19:00 (Sunday)
about workshop facilitator: Simonne Jones:
In Simonne Jones’ past life, she was a scientist. With a degree in biochemical engineering, she got a job working in an HIV research lab. But she wasn’t fulfilled. So she quit her job and moved to Africa on a grant to work on an HIV awareness campaign. It was there that she realised she wasn’t supposed to be a scientist at all.
Now, Simonne uses her background in scientific theory to write electro-pop songs that lyrically reference complex concepts like relativity and gravity while sounding both otherworldly and like a hymn you’ve always known.
She began playing piano at age 3, and started recording engineering classes at 14, and made her first beat for the artist Peaches. As a producer and writer she has caught the attention and collaborated with some of the industry’s most prolific pop writers including Liam Howe (Lana Del Rey), Sasha Skarbek (Adele), Jimmy Harry (Madonna), David Kosten (Bat for Lashes), Kid Harpoon (Florence and the Machine), and Martin McKinney (The Weeknd). She’s produced tracks for Peaches, Rea Garvey (certified Gold), and dozens of some the most promising underground electronic pop artists. She is quickly becoming one of the most in demand producers in the underground scene in Berlin.

*IMMATERIALS with Cinema 4D
a technical workshop with Ana Gzirishviliregistration at : @" target="_blank">@**Max number of participants: 10** Workshop will be taught in English
In this online course, we will learn the basics of the 3D software – Cinema 4D (by Maxon). In these strange times we are living, digital technical knowledge is extremely beneficial and what not a more perfect time to improve our computer skills then now! In the 3D program, Cinema4D, you can virtually visualize your imagination with endless possibilities for experimenting.
Cinema 4D is one of the most user-friendly 3D software (compared to programs like 3ds Max, Maya) however, it is hard to start the learning process on your own, since the program can still be quite overwhelming. Throughout these online sessions, we will work together to find out how to create a 3D project from scratch and go through the entire process of a 3D workflow, including modeling, lighting, texturing, animating, and rendering. Along the way you will learn various tips and tricks.
During our online streaming, the facilitator Ana Gzirishvili will share her screen and show her workflow with the Cinema 4D software. During the streaming, you can interact by writing your questions or things you would like to discuss.
We will have 4 sessions. Each session will last for 2 hours.
